Our Cause This Year
We are helping a very special family this year, so we ask for your kind support of this year’s 5K. Here is Leighton’s story:
Leighton was expected to arrive in April of this year. However, she arrived prematurely at the end of February, and her prognosis was not good. The doctors had given her hours and then days to live. Nevertheless, she is still here and is a true fighter!
She had remained in the NICU at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for several weeks before being transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She has not been home since birth and will require 24-hour care upon discharge. Leighton has a feeding tube and other issues which require her mom and other friends to be trained to care for her. These needs are expected to be great with nursing services, feeding and life caring skills for her development.
Your support of our 5K helps us to donate a portion of our proceeds, as we do every year, to this family.
